Document & business-card scanner for Android
Ninja Scan is the organizer for all your important documents and business cards, kept in one private, safe place. It captures them, reads the text, and keeps every byte on your phone unless you decide otherwise — no ads, no analytics, no watermark, no account required. Totally free, with every feature included.
edge detect → crop → OCR → done
From paper pile to searchable library
Point the camera at a document and it's cropped, cleaned up, and made fully searchable — automatically.
Capture
Live edge detection tracks the page in real time as you frame the shot, so the crop is already right before you capture — no fiddling with corners after the fact. Auto capture fires the moment the page is steady and in frame; manual mode is there if you want more control.
View
Every document opens in a built-in PDF viewer, so you can read, zoom, and flip through pages without handing the file off to another app. Jump straight into watermarking, adding more scanned pages, sharing, or editing from the same screen.
Export
Share the whole document or just the pages you pick — as a single PDF, per-page images, one tall long image, or separate PDFs for each page. Export straight into Google Drive, WhatsApp, or any app through Android's own share sheet.
Capture
Point the camera at a document and edges are detected, corrected, and cleaned up automatically — shadows and stains removed, up to 50 pages per scan. Every page is run through on-device text recognition the moment it saves, so search finds a document by what's actually written on it, not just its title.
Folders keep the library organized — add, rename, or delete them any time, and filter by tapping a chip.
Clean up
Select several documents at once and share or delete them together in one action — no tapping through each one individually. The same long-press opens rename and delete on a folder chip, reliably, every time.
Protect
Add an optional diagonal watermark and it's stamped on the fly whenever the document is viewed, shared, or exported — the stored file itself stays clean, and the watermark stays editable, or removable, at any time. Turn on Drive backup and scans and contacts upload automatically through Google's narrowest Drive permission — the app can only ever see files it created itself.
From a card in your hand to a contact you can use
Point the camera at a card and get a real, searchable contact — name, company, phone, and email, extracted automatically.
Capture
Scanning a business card uses the exact same live edge detection and auto-capture as documents, so there's nothing new to learn — point, hold steady, and the card is captured and read automatically.
Organize
Scanning a card extracts the name, company, title, phone, email, and address on-device — layout-aware, so a name and job title printed side by side don't get run together. Label contacts with reusable, colored tags — Client, Vendor, Follow-up, whatever fits — create, rename, recolor, or delete a tag any time, and search finds contacts by tag too.
Use
Every extracted field is tappable — call or WhatsApp the number, email straight from the card, open the website, or drop a pin on the address in Maps. No copying and pasting into another app first.
Export
Save a card straight to your phone's real Contacts app in one tap, tags included, or export your whole list as a CSV or a genuine Excel workbook — the data travels with you, not just an image of a card.
Why switch
Most "free" scanner apps make their money back somewhere — usually ads, a forced watermark, or export formats locked behind a subscription. Here's where Ninja Scan lands on the things that actually matter.
| Ninja Scan | Typical free scanner apps | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, every feature included | Free tier, paywall for real use |
| Ads | None | Yes, usually |
| Watermark on exports | Optional, and removable anytime | Forced on free exports |
| Business card scanner | Built in, with Contacts export | Rare, or a separate app |
| Text recognition | On-device, works offline | Often sent to a server |
| Cloud backup | Your own Google Drive, narrowest scope | Vendor's own cloud, broad access |
| Account required | No, except to turn on backup | Usually, from the first launch |
More reasons to switch
Small workflow choices that add up once you're actually using it every day.
The optimized PDF is what you view and share, but the full camera-resolution original stays on your phone too — so a later edit never has to work from lossy data.
Share the whole document or just the pages you pick, as a PDF, per-page images, one long image, or separate PDFs — the choice is yours every time.
Save a scanned business card to your phone's real Contacts app in one tap, tags included, instead of leaving it stuck inside another app.
Export your whole card list as a CSV or a real .xlsx workbook — the data comes with you, not just a photo of a card.
Long-press to select several documents or cards at once, then share or delete them together instead of tapping through each one.
Organize documents into folders and label contacts with reusable, colored tags — create, rename, recolor, or delete any of them whenever you like.

One place, safely kept
Every scan and business card lives in Ninja Scan's private library, right there on your phone. Turn on backup and everything mirrors into a folder in your own Google Drive — never a stranger's server, never anyone else's cloud. No ad network, no analytics SDK, no third-party tracker of any kind.
Document and card text recognition happen locally, through ML Kit's on-device APIs — nothing is uploaded to recognize a word.
Backup is off by default. Turn it on and copies go straight to a
folder in your own Google Drive, scoped to
drive.file — the app can never see the rest of it.
Delete a scan or contact any time in-app; uninstalling removes everything local with it.
